I "heart" President Hinckley

"Life is just like an old time rail journey...delays, sidetracks, smoke, dust, cinders, and jolts, interspersed only occasionally by beautiful vistas and thrilling bursts of speed. The trick is to thank the Lord for letting you have the ride."

"My plea is that we stop seeking out the storms and enjoy more fully the sunlight. I am suggesting that as we go through life we 'accentuate the positive.' I am asking that we look a little deeper for the good, that we still our voices of insult and sarcasm, that we more generously compliment and endorse virtue and effort."

"The only way to get anything done is to get on your knees and plead for help and then get on your feet and go to work."

"How grateful I am, how grateful we all must be for the women in our lives."

"It isn't as bad as you sometimes think it is. It all works out. Don't worry. I say that to myself every morning. It will all work out. If you do your best, it will all work out. Put your trust in God and move forward with faith and confidence in the future. The Lord will not forsake us....if we put our trust in Him, if we pray to Him, if we live worthy of His belssings, He will hear our prayers."

"Go forward in life with a twinkle in your eye and a smile on your face, but with great purpose in heart."

A Good Deal

So, when your life is like 'groundhog day' as my dad would put it, its easy to get excited about things that don't happen on a daily basis.

I was at a cute wholesale home decor store last week called Real Deals. I came across a cute bench that I FELL IN LOVE with. You know that love at first sight feeling when you come across a certain something and you just have to have it? I've been wanting a bench for our front porch for a long time so that Mike and I can sit on the front porch in the summertime, have a glass of lemonade and watch the sun set from behind the house. (Our house is a east facing house). So I took a picture with my phone and went home and begged.

After my husband realized that this would make me very happy, and that if not approved it would make his life very unhappy, I went back to the store the next day to buy it. Much to my surprise it was an extra 30% off the price from the day before! Which was already a smashing deal. So I left that store skipping. I love it when that happens.

Week

So I've had thoughts in the back of my head for the past week every now and then trying to think of something to post about. And in all honesty I pretty much got nada. So I'm simply going to write 5 interesting things that happened this week that was a little bit out of the ordinary.

1. School started on Monday! I'm taking 2 classes again and I'm pretty excited for this semester. I was kindof intimidated/nervous I guess you could say about going back to school in the fall after a 3 year hiatus but thankfully, I was pleased with the way it turned out. The bad part about school starting is that it makes work SO busy. I've left work every single night this week with a headache because of how busy its been in the office. And no, it didn't make the week go by faster, instead it felt like the week would never end.

2. On Thursday night, I went to the stake Young Women's basketball game to cheer on my young women. Now, as a young woman myself back in the day I didn't participate in the sports activities. I honestly don't remember why, I think its cause I've never been an athlete and I sucked at it. Anyways, so this was the first YW b-ball game I've attended as a leader and it was a riot. I think the ending score after 4 quarters was 16-16 tie. That ball was flying everywhere. They were so carefree. It made me wish I hadn't been so paranoid about what people thought of me as a ball player when I was a teen.

3. Tonight (Friday) Mike and I went ice skating with our good friends Katie and Curtis at the local Bountiful Rec Center then came home and had root-beer floats.

4. This afternoon I had lunch with my old roomies from back in the 'BC' days. Maggi and Emily. I still see Emily still on a weekly basis but its been 3 years since I'd seen Maggie. We had pizza at The Pie and had a good time catching up.

5. I totally screwed up my old blog template. I was up till 11 trying to fix it last night. But to no avail, I had to start fresh. So here's to pink flowers to celebrate Valentines Day!
