Parenthood Makes You Mental

As everyone knows, there's a little trick in getting your baby to calm down when he/she is crying. Its the "shhh"ing sound right? Well, Mike is pretty good at this little trick and almost always works like a charm on Emmett and calms him right down when he's crying. Well, I think sometimes when you do things consistently it tends to get engrained in your brain a little too much. Like last night for example, Mike and I had climbed into bed to go to sleep...Mike was asleep in about 2 seconds. I rolled over to adjust more comfortably and next thing you know Mike reaches over to my knee, rubs it, and goes "Shhhhhhhh". I busted up laughing. He couldn't remember a thing this morning.

Another thing that I am guilty of, is when Emmett wakes up in the middle of the night to eat, I tend to just bring him in bed with me to nurse. Well, sometimes I have to admit I am really tired and can't remember much. Well, there has been more than one occasion long after I have finished feeding, changing, and putting Emmett back in his crib (in the other room may I add) I wake up an hour or so later FREAKING out and waking up Mike in my sleepy state saying "Where's Emmett?! Where's Emmett!!?" as my arms are tearing apart the covers trying to find him, because I'm thinking I'd fallen asleep while feeding him and that he was somewhere buried in the covers.

Being a parent changes your way of thinking permanently. Your baby is constantly on your mind, and sometimes it makes you a little crazy...but in a good way.

Oh boy this made me laugh! If I think I have weird waking up sleeping moments now, I know it's just going to get worse!

Well, it is official you are truly a parent now. Emmett has taken over your life and that is the way it should be. You made me laugh out loud with the mostly asleep stories. I hate when you aren't awake enough to know what the heck is going on and the panic kicks in.

Too funny! Just wait, it only gets worse as you have more and they grow older!

That is so funny. I love the story about Mike. Cory always yells out On your marks, gets set, go in his sleep after we have been working the racecars for several weeks.

That is too funny! I really had a good laugh. I agree having kids really makes you mental. I would love to say that it gets better, but I really think that it only gets worse as you have more.

I loved this post! Since our wedding night, Tom has done similar things in his sleep. And it only got worse when we had Ryan. I can totally relate!

What a funny post! Sounds like I have a lot to look forward to!!! And it looks like Island Park was stellar! Are your parents going on a mission or are they going to Korea for something else?
