Mike and I are celebrating our 5 year anniversary on September 4! I'm posting this blog a little early but for your reading enjoyment here's a step back in time to how Mike and Lisa first began. My version anyways...
I moved to Salt Lake City in the fall of 2002 and enrolled in school at LDS Business College. I was pretty shy and had just said goodbye to a boyfriend on a mission, so I was pretty down in the dumps but trying to make the best of things. My very first class was Interpersonal Communications. There was one boy who was in my class named Mike. I still remember the teacher going down the roll... "Lisa Winterton?" "Here" I said. Then she continued listing students and got to Mike and said "Mike...uh...Gle--how do you pronounce that?" "Mike Glo-yay" he said. I remember thinking he was cute, and he looked like he had a lot of friends. And if you were to ask Mike he would say he thought I was cute as well, however he sensed there was always some kind of "bubble" around me (hahaa). Well, the class continued through the semester, we never talked, not even a hello.
Well, lets skip ahead to exactly 1 year later. The following fall. I was enrolled in another class, Business Writing. At this point, I wasn't writing my missionary hardly at all anymore, I had made lots of new friends, I was dating, I was happy. Well, once again that same Mike guy was in my class. I still didn't know him, I just knew of him, from seeing him around school and I had seen posters up as he was running for school president. (He sadly lost).
He sat by his tall, blond girlfriend in class everyday, and I often saw them holding hands or chatting together (and no, that girlfriend was not me). Well, the semester continued on and it was December. Mike had since broken up with his girlfriend and we were assigned to the same writing group for a project. For some reason, the other members of our group were either lazy, or didn't speak English, I don't remember which but our group went from 4 to just the 2 of us. So we set some time aside and worked on the project together after class, which led to us getting to know each other.
The semester ended and the VERY next day, I got a phone call from Mike asking me to go snowshoeing with him. Which I must say, I believe he waited until the class was officially over so he didn't have to face his ex girlfriend in class and date me at the same time! Anyways, I had no snow gear or anything, so I borrowed my roommates snow pants, and Mike's grandma's snow boots and off we went. We started dating shortly after that, the 'Dear John' went out, and the rest is history!
I'll fast forward with some pictures of some of our dating life.

We started dating exclusively in February, and this is a picture of a trip we went on with a group of friends to Zion's National Park in southern UT in March 04.
End of the school year dance/date. We ate at the Garden Restaurant in the Joseph Smith Memorial Bldg.

Like most typical couples in love, a lot of down time cuddling and giggling in my apartment.
Officially engaged in June! Mike proposed at the Manti temple after the Manti Pageant. He tricked me into thinking the couple we doubled with were getting engaged that night, but it was in fact, us. He hid the ring box in his sock and walked around with it the whole night. (I had picked out my ring, and knew it was coming, however I thought the ring wouldn't be ready to pick up for another couple days).

Labeling and stuffing our wedding invitations!
Married September 4, 2004 in the Salt Lake Temple
This picture was right after our honeymoon and was our official first meal together at home as husband and wife. Grilled chicken and corn on the cob. Love the card table and folding chairs (that we borrowed)!
Its been a fabulous 5 years and I can't imagine my life without him! Marrying Mike was the best decision I ever made and I can't wait to see what else is in store for our future! Happy Anniversary!

I loved this post and the pictures!! You guys look so young in some of them! Crazy! And I had no idea about the school project thing! Thanks for sharing your story. And a huge congrats on 5 years... you guys have had quite a full five years! And just my opinion, but I think EVERY girl in the school wanted to date Mike Gleue! One last thing- I had a random memory of you the other day... so it was soon before you were going to get married and you were the ward chorister. We started singing, "Families Can Be Together Forever" and I saw you look down at Mike and you both smiled... it was so cute. :) HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!! FIVE YEARS!!!!

Happy Anniversary!! At least you had a borrowed table to eat your first meals on. All we had at first were empty boxes from moving to eat on!
Happy Anniversary to you! I remember going to your shower in ML and thinking that I wanted to grow up and be happy like you someday. :) Thanks for being a great example of such happiness.
Good think you were very slow Mike. You boiled that old frog Lisa before she even knew the heat was being turned up.
