My latest interest has been learning the ins and outs of Photoshop. I love to take continuing education classes to learn new hobbies, and this is one I've been wanting to take for a long time. We got Photoshop CS4 about 3 years ago right before I quit working for the University of Utah. By being an employee (or student) you are privileged to discounts on things like software so we bought photoshop on my discount for around $125, when it costs over $600 at retail price. At the time I remember thinking even that was pretty much a waste of money because we had NO CLUE how to use it. It is super, duper confusing if you've ever looked at it before. So, we went about 3 years with hardly touching the program until I just recently took this class. Its still really overwhelming, but I'm so glad I finally figured out how it works. With practice I hope to get better, so don't judge too harshly on my edits.

| BEFORE SHOT. Claire as a newborn. She looks really red for some reason, bad lighting I guess. |

| AFTER |

| BEFORE |
 |
| AFTER. I softened the background as well as her skin. I took out the veins in her forehead and brightened up the picture. |
 |
| BEFORE. Right after having Claire in the hospital. |
 |
| AFTER. I brightened and softened the picture. I also added some highlights to my face. And it just so happened we learned how to add "makeup" to faces. So I gave myself a little dab of lipstick and eyeliner and removed some blotchy-ness on my skin as well. |
 |
| Self explanatory. Took 2 wedding pictures, cropped, added a background and text. Fun way to dress up your wedding photos. |
 |
| BEFORE. Mikes eyes are looking upward. |
 |
| AFTER. He's looking straight now. |
 |
| BEFORE. Mike and Emmett's eyes are not looking at the camera. My hair has lots of flyaways. |
 |
| AFTER |
 |
| BEFORE. |
 |
| AFTER. The center of her face was so dark I brightened that up a lot. I'm not super crazy about this edit, but I didn't feel like spending more time on it. |

Woohoo Lisa! Those look great. I remember a long time ago saying that I wanted you to take pictures of my baby if I ever had one. Well, since I'm having one in January (woohoo!!).... :)
Awesome job Lisa! So when can I come down for my lessons? :) btw, I'm not kidding!
Thats so fun. I would love to learn such things. Where are you taking your class?
Wow! Those look great! I'm totally impressed. Especially what you could do with the eyes, and adding makeup. Who knew? I was thinking the before pics were good, and then I'd scroll down to the afters! Amazing difference with lighting and softening!
Way to learn a new skill and use the "cheap" software. Very impressive changes!!
wow, great job!!!
it really seems to be the fad in picture-taking right now to brighten things up almost to a glowing point... have you noticed that?
Looks great! Ben bought me the same thing last year for Christmas...plus lightroom... both also at the sweet discounted price. I, like you, have neglected spending the time to figure it out because it is overwhelming, but pan to now since our bambino will be here soon. It is so nice to be able to fancy up your own pictures without paying the ridiculous price of professionals. You give me added motivation! Good job on your edits!
Wow I love the pictures. That is amazing how you can make the eyes looking in the right direction and get ride of the flyaways. You did awesome!
You may photoshop my pictures anytime and take off 40-50 pounds. Great job.
These are great, Lisa! Photoshop is a little like learning a new language, but it looks like you're catching on fast. And if you ever want to share that secret for making skin look so smooth I'd love to know. (Any tutorials I've found on the subject haven't given me that good of results, that I'd sort of given up.)
Hey it's Sarah Smith. That is amazing. Way to go. I love the one that you fixed Mike's eyes being closed. That is a family photo saver.
So glad to have a photo editor in the family now. Great job!
