Last Thursday I woke up and heard on the radio that Wells, NV (which is about 2 hours away from SLC) had a 6.0 earthquake that was felt throughout the Salt Lake Valley. (I personally didn't feel a thing, but I heard plenty of comments about it on the radio) Anyways, I think it shook a lot of people up because of the reality of it actual happening semi-close to home. This is a recent picture of Wells, NV after the earthquake on February 21, 2008:
Well, last night at around 3:00AM Mike wakes me up and says "I just felt an earthquake!" In a daze I say "Are you kidding me?" (My first thoughts were "Why do I always MISS it!?") Anyways, he goes "No I'm not kidding, it felt like this" and he proceeded to shake the bed. In my head I slightly started to freak out. I sat there in bed thinking to myself "Holy crap...we're gonna end up with a HUGE earthquake tonight, or sometime soon, what are we going to do? How are we going to get out? What if our house crumbles while we're in it?" ect. (I worry about our house because its made of old brick, and according to recent news reports, these types WILL crumble). Anyways, during the next 45 minutes of the night Mike and I got a plan of escape worked out if something did happen...where we would go if we were at home, or where we would try to meet if we were at work, how would we grab our food storage ect. Well, I woke up this morning and remembered the events that took place last night, and once again asked Mike if he still believes that he really felt an earthquake, and he said yes. Turns out...I listened to the radio the whole way to work, and checked news reports on the internet ect, and sure enough...NO EARTHQUAKE. I love my husband, but he's got some CRAZY dreams! Oh well, at least we got a plan now. :)

That is crazy! After that earthquake in Wells there was stuff on the news talking about a huge fault line here in Vegas too! Totally scared me. I keep Alan up all the time with the 'what ifs' I just can't sleep until I get things sorted out in my head! Anyway...I am glad your house hasn't crumbled to the ground yet...in fact I hope that never happens!
My sis called and told me about the earthquake in wells too, she is living in orem, and she was like, hello we live on a huge fault line, it could happen to us, she was a little freaking it out, it was funny! The family she works for made her go to costco and stalk up on some food storage!! She was also making plans to get to her boyfriends house, and other alternatives if she couldn't make it there! i don't think it hurts to have a plan, but funny your hubby thought he felt an earthquake! He must of been subconsiencly (sp?) worried about the earthquake too!
I'm thinking its gonna be salt lake that is gonna rock and roll. P-town is safe for another few hundred years.
My sister that lives in Burley, Idaho said that she felt the earthquake. It must have been a good one!! I hope that an earthquake never hits that fault line.
That picture of the old time car is AWESOME!
And, yes, earthquakes are VERY scary!
Yikes! Funny story, but scary thought! Don't you love natural disasters, they are so much fun to worry about and live through... Lance asks me what I would do if something like that happended where we were (besides hurricanes and tornados) I always tell him that by that point I probably would have died from a heart attack :)
Well, you should ask him about the earthquakes that hit Star Valley. Apparently a few years before I moved there a big one hit and made a huge crack in the high school that it got condemn (sp?) and they had to build a new one. I have severals friends from the valley that said they were shook out of there beds. I felt a small on once there . . . . .
hey send me your email address so I can add you to the recipe blog!!
