So We Keep Waiting, Waiting on the World to Change

I woke up the other day with that song in my head and thought it was pretty fitting for my life right now. My last official day of work was last Friday, one week ago. Probably up there in one of the happiest days of my life. Its been a long ride, and it feels so good to be unemployed. I'm to the point now where I don't even like going out in public anymore. I have about 4 shirts that still fit, and I've resorted to wearing Mike's t-shirts now because at least they're modest. So to be able to stay hibernated in our little house is quite nice. My one adventure is going on my daily walk around the neighborhood. But I try and go when people are all at work or at school. Things with the baby are going well, found out I'm dilated to a 1cm which made me feel great and I have a lot of Braxton Hicks. So at least something is happening.

We also celebrated Mike's 29th birthday last week. I asked him what he wanted to do, as in where to go to dinner, or a movie, or whatever. But as a typical Mike thing to say he said he just wanted to have a cookout with some friends up the canyon. So we did.

Mike's birthday pumkin pie. We only used 1 candle cause I wasn't sure if the pumkin could handle 29....

Good News and Bad News

I went to the Dr. today and we got some good news! The baby has turned head down! I really didn't want a c-section if I could help it. So hopefully he'll stay that way until d-day. He's getting so big I don't know how he has much room to move anymore period. Other than that everything else is looking normal and uneventful.

Our bad news is that Mike's 4Runner is officially dead. Like, time to sell it for scraps if we can. Its been running badly lately so we took it in, and they told us it needs a new engine. Considering its almost 20 years old, its not worth it. The timing is awful. And I now get to take him to work, or have him take the bus until we get another one. We both think that cars are the biggest waste of money and so the thought of spending our money on a new car makes us well....sick. Especially since we're about to have a baby here in a couple weeks. Oh well. Everything happens for a reason right?

Baby Update

Well, I don't know why I'm posting an update because not much is new in the baby department other than I just keep getting bigger and bigger. I even had someone ask me if I was sure I'm not having twins. Yep. Definitely sure of that. He's definitely taking up his fair share of my lungs too. It depends on the day, but 3 out of 7 days of the week I can never seem to get a full breath of air. It feels like I'm having an asthma attack. The doctor simply said the only way to relieve this is DELIVERY. Great. At least its not constant and this baby does give me some breaks. I did go to the doctor today, he checked me to see if I was dilated at all, and I'm not. No surprise there. He said that's normal for this point in pregnancy and if I was then its just an 'added bonus'. Who knows if I'll even be able to deliver this baby, he checked his position and currently the baby is laying SIDEWAYS. Like he's in a hammock. He said he still has time to move, but if he doesn't its a definite c-section. So we're hoping he gets out of his comfy hammock and moves down!

Alpine Loop

This past weekend Mike took me on his all time favorite fall drive, the Alpine Loop through American Fork canyon. I thought it might be a little too early to see the fall leaves changing color, but we were pleasantly surprised. We went with our friends Katie and Curtis. The weather was perfect and we had a great time enjoying being outside.

Nursery

We've finally completed the baby's room! It has been a HUGE project, and I'm still amazed that we actually finished it with time to spare...and I'm amazed that its actually the same room we started with. Here's a couple pictures to remind you of what it looked like back in May when we started:

This is when we just started to peel back the old paneling

Mudding, sanding and painting...

And the finished product: (going clockwise around the room)

I know this isn't the most interesting of posts, but we've had people asking us to post pictures so here you go!

Baby Shower

I had my baby shower recently and had a ball. My good friends Katie and Emily put it together and did an awesome job. I couldn't thank them enough, along with all the wonderful gifts I got from everybody that came! Here's a few pics...

Emily and Katie, don't know what I'd do without them!

My friend Katie is SO talented. Here's a preview of a few of the things she made for my shower:

4 years

Happy Anniversary

1. What's his name? Jared Michael Gleue

2. How long have you been married? 4 years

3. How long did we date? 6 months dating, 2 1/2 month engagement

4. How old is he? 28

5. Who eats more? Mike usually does, but ever since I got pregnant its definately a toss up.

6. Who said I love you first? We were both too freaked out to say we were actually in love when we knew we were...so we kindof mutually "decided" that we loved each other one night!

7. Who is taller? Mike, by exactly 1 ft

8. Who sings better? Probably Mike, but neither of us are very good. I say Mike because he actually laughs at me sometimes when we sing in church cause I'm so bad.

9. Who is smarter? Mike definately. He's a brainy. I wouldn't have passed any of my college courses if it weren't for him probably.

10. Who's temper is worse? I don't think either of us have a temper. But I tend to have less patience.

11. Who pays the bills? Me. Mike probably wouldn't have any idea how much money we have in our account if it weren't for me. And- if Mike were to pay the bills they'd probably be late every month.

12. Who does the laundry? We kindof have a system going...Mike changes the loads (cause I hate going to the basement to do it) and then I fold it all when its done.

13. Who cooks dinner? Both. Or whoever has the time to do it after work.

14. Who drives when together? Usually Mike.

15. Who is more stubborn? Me. Mike is the most patient person I know.

16. Who is the first to admit when wrong? Mike-kinda goes back to that "who's more stubborn question" :)

17. Who wears the pants in the family? I have no idea. We both are pretty opinionated about some things, and then not so much with others. We make a pretty good team.

18. Who eats more sweets? Me. I always have to have something sweet after every meal to balance it out. Mike would eat a carrot over a candy bar any day. However, he does have his indulgences every now and then. Particularly with chocolate covered nuts or turtles.

19. Who mows the lawn? Mike

20. Who sleeps on the right side of the bed? Which way is "right"? I think my side is the right way.

21. Who kissed who first? Mike kissed me first. After watching a late movie in my apartment. I was half asleep and wasn't expecting it. It sure woke me up though.

22. Who asked who out first? Mike asked me out first. Our first date was snowshoeing.

23. Who proposed? Mike. He proposed at the Manti temple after watching the pageant in June 04. He staged a story that our friends we were with were going to get engaged that night and we were in charge of taking their pictures...but instead it was actually for me.

24. What is my favorite thing about him? I love it when he gets really excited, he cracks me up. I love watching him open a gift. I love whenever we buy a new "contraption" to put together he always immediately gets to it, cause he gets too anxious to let something to work on just sit there. I never get sick of being with him and I can't stand being apart. I love knowing he would do anything for me. He's my favorite person in the world, and aside from being in love, we are still best buds.

What's new you ask?

I decided to come up for air and make a quick post. The baby's room is almost finished! Well, I should say it is finished but we're awaiting carpet still (and have yet to order it) and make some finishing touches on the upper white walls. My mom, the ever-creative 'Stampin Up' gal found a super cute polka dot stamp set that you can put on walls with paint. So that'll be our last touch to make the room cute and add some color. Here's a pic we took a couple weeks ago (sorry the pics in this post aren't going to be the most recent because I'm tired and don't want to take any right now). What these pictures don't show is finished window frames and all the molding has been added as well. It looks so good. I have to give all the credit to my amazing husband as he's done the whole thing by himself. I just had to cook a little bit more than I'm used to.

The wall color is a chocolate brown, and the brown box you see in the corner of the picture is our baby's dresser...not out of the box. Right now its serving its purpose as being Mike's work table.

A partial window frame

Our crib! Just waiting to be put together.

It'll be so nice to see it all come together! I'll be sure and post photos as soon as its done.

As for the other part of our lives, my work is insanely busy this time of year. I know I rarely talk about my job, partially because its not one of my most favorite things in my life, and also because the only interesting parts is the wierd people I come across every day. But this weekend is opening weekend at the U, meaning 2,000 eager little freshman arrive to move into their dorms, and since I work in the management office it makes my job insane and I have to work late nights and on all day on Saturday which I hate. Its kinda funny to see some of the parents/students reactions to me being pregnant, I think their first thought is that 1. I'm a student like the rest of them, and 2. I must be this poor single pregnant girl trying to make her way through college and her job to feed her baby on the way. I wonder this because I can see their eyes usually dive straight to my ring finger when they notice I'm expecting. haha.

As for pregnancy, things are still going well and time seems to be going by way too fast. I've definately jumped into the more uncomfortable stages of pregnancy. Here's a few things that I've noticed within the last few weeks that haven't been so enjoyable:

1. Leg cramps. I've had leg cramps since I was about 5 months pregnant, but they seem to be getting a lot worse...to the point that I can't sleep very well anymore.

2. Speaking of sleep...my sleep is rarely undisturbed by either a leg cramp or getting up to use the bathroom. Oh and my shoulders hurt SO bad in the morning because of sleeping on my side. That might sound wierd, but I'm usually a stomach sleeper so the weight on my shoulders is not something I'm used to...especially as I pack on the pounds.

3. I never knew what it would feel like to literally not be able to breathe very well. Wow. Your stomach literally digs right into your lungs.

4. Bending over. I pretty much have little things left all over the house now of stuff that I've dropped and been too lazy to pick up, or isn't a necessity.

5. So tired. I swear I'm more tired now then I was in the 1st trimester. I can hardly keep my eyes open after work without a nap.

I realize I do have a lot to be grateful for as I still haven't had any swelling, strechmarks, or heartburn at all. And I love feeling my little guy move all the time. I swear he doesn't ever sleep. He moves all day and all night.

Here's a pic at 28 weeks:

And as for Mike. He's been trying to squeeze in as much outdoors time as he can before summer's over. He's out fishing tonight, and here's a pic of a hike he went on (at Lake Blanche up Big Cottonwood Canyon) a couple weekends ago. He's getting quite good at using our new camera.
